Plummer's the greatest. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than actors hitting it big with a part they spend much of their careers trying to shed. See also: all those little weirdos that played Bond.
I saw this a little more than a year ago on cable, can't remember the channel. I watched because it was an Elliott Gould movie I had never heard of. Very good movie. It’s such a shame that there are so many good movies that are essentially hidden from view.
It is a shame. I could argue that it was always this way, but there's really no excuse for it now. Mind you, I'm not the best arbiter of obscurity - according to me, The Offence was pretty well-known!
Canadian film royalty!

A terrific film, also revered by jazz lovers for the Oscar Peterson soundtrack!
An Oscar Peterson soundtrack that barely (if ever!) features in the actual movie, which is odd. No wonder it was his only one.
I'm sure the jazz heads who bought the album thought they were given the wrong tape at Blockbuster when they saw the film.
A fantastic late night BBC2 film back in the olden days. A great soundtrack too. Nice one!
Exactly where I saw it first - I want to say it was a Moviedrome feature, but I want to say that about all of these movies.
Yeah, it was around that time for sure.
I reeeally need to see this.
You do. You really do. You'd love it.
The movie is on TCM Dec 22, 2:45am CST.
We don't do TCM in the UK unfortunately. Booo.
I caught up with this one after hearing about it for years. A good one.
