I firmly believe most '70s and '80s television in the UK was designed to cause lasting trauma in kids. Even the kid-centric public safety films are now infamous for their brutality.
It REALLY is. I remember it getting under my skin the first time I saw it, but didn’t think it would do it again. But yes, shhhhhh. These poor people won’t know what hit ‘em.
Oh, it's on the Network DVD? I had no idea, and I have that DVD. How did I miss that? It's a lovely collection, that. RIP, Network - you did great work.
Welcome back! I love learning about the things on 1970s British TV that scared viewers. All we got in the U.S. was Dr. Who...

Nigel Kneale for the win! I have a piece that deals with The Stone Tape and Kneale coming in the next issue of @theobservermagazine.
Glad to have you back, man.
And I know what's coming next and can't wait:
"All over them..."
The poor, poor, frightfully posh Gibson family.
"Pop music?"
"It was the only thing that was LOUD enough!" (immediately sticks on Lulu)
It's so good. One of the most genuinely unnerving pieces of telly ever made. Anyway, we shouldn't give away too much eh?

This is a great piece thank you. We have a copy of Murrain as a special feature in our dvd of the Beasts anthology series!
